What Can I Work On?
Measure what matters. Explore useful health, capability and behaviour baselines, how to interpret trends and how measurement can help you prioritise action, track progress and adjust your healthy-ageing plan.
Healthy ageing is not about one number, one exercise or one food. This hub brings together the explanations, practical actions and evidence connected with Baselining & Measurement.
Use the resources below to understand the topic, connect it with the relevant parts of the OVER 60s QoL Guys system and identify useful next steps. Measurement should support better decisions — not simply collect numbers.
MEASURE WHAT MATTERS
A baseline tells you where you are starting. Repeated measurement helps show whether something meaningful is changing. The purpose is not to collect the greatest possible number of metrics; it is to make better decisions.
Health markers such as blood pressure or waist measures can matter, but so can what you can physically do: walking, rising, carrying, balancing, moving and recovering. The most useful set of measures therefore depends on the question you are trying to answer.
Many measurements vary naturally from day to day and contain measurement error. Standardising how and when you measure and looking at trends can prevent overreaction to a single reading.
A consumer device, self-assessment or programme score can identify patterns and priorities, but it does not diagnose disease. Clinical thresholds also depend on the measurement, population, guideline and individual context.
Our assessment framework is designed to move from MEASURE → UNDERSTAND → PRIORITISE → ACT → REPEAT → ADAPT → IMPROVE → REASSESS. Measurement earns its place by helping the next decision.
The Whole Body Health Assessment helps you look across health, capability and daily behaviour so you can identify strengths, gaps and priorities.
