ABOUT THE OVER 60s QUALITY OF LIFE GUYS

Getting Older Shouldn't Mean Giving Up the Life You Love

We exist to help people make better decisions today so they have more choices tomorrow — and remain healthy, strong, active and independent for longer.

The OVER 60s Quality of Life Guys

Why We Exist

Living longer is only part of the goal. What matters is extending the years in which we are capable of living the life we choose.

OUR PURPOSE

To help people make better decisions today so they have more choices tomorrow.

Better decisions. More choices. Greater independence.

OUR MISSION

To help people extend the years they remain:

HEALTHY · STRONG · ACTIVE · INDEPENDENT

Every Decision Compounds

Your future health is rarely determined by one meal, one workout, one bad night's sleep or one missed walk. It is shaped by what happens repeatedly. Small decisions accumulate. Habits compound.

Lifestyle Debt™

Unhealthy behaviours can accumulate quietly over years. The cost may only become obvious much later.

Lifestyle Wealth™

Healthy behaviours can compound too — building capability, resilience and more choices for your Future Self™.

Invest in Your Future Self™

The person you will be in the years ahead is being influenced by the decisions you make today. Investing in your Future Self™ means deliberately building the health and capability you want to keep.

Intentional Ageing™

Ageing happens. How intentionally we prepare for it is different. Intentional Ageing™ means choosing behaviours today that protect tomorrow's choices.

Close the Independence Gap™. Create More Freedom Years™.

Freedom Years™ are the years you remain healthy, active and independent. The Independence Gap™ is the period between living and no longer being able to live independently. Our mission is to help people protect capability and extend their Freedom Years™.

Get up from a chair — or the floor.

LIFT & CARRY

Handle everyday loads.

THINK

Remain mentally engaged.

TRAVEL

Continue exploring.

PARTICIPATE

Stay involved with people and community.

4 · PROTECT
Maintain capability.
5 · THRIVE
Enjoy more Freedom Years™.

FROM THE FOUNDER — JOHN COMLEY

The Two Words That Changed My Approach to Health & Fitness

For much of my younger life, health and fitness were simply part of who I was. I ran marathons and ultra-distance events, competed in canoe marathons and ultra-triathlons, practised karate, trained hard and spent two years doing National Service.

I knew how to be fit. I knew how to train hard. I knew physical toughness.

Then Life Happened

After 30, family, career and responsibility became all-consuming. My then wife and I went on to have five children. Sport became less structured and deliberate attention to my own health moved down the priority list.

It was not a sudden collapse in fitness. Even in my 40s and early 50s I remained active and physically capable. The change was gradual.

Lifestyle Debt™ doesn't usually arrive as a crisis. It accumulates quietly.

“What happened?”

At around 63, my grandson Carlo was looking through old photographs and stopped at this one. He studied it intensely, looked up at me and, in complete earnestness, asked just two words:

“What happened?”

It was funny. But it was also profound. Somewhere between that young man in the photograph and the man my grandson was looking at, more than three decades had passed.

The Moment Became Personal

This photograph shows me in my 60s — with Carlo standing in front holding his tablet. It is painfully revealing, but that is exactly why it matters. It marks the period when I began paying attention differently.

I Thought I Understood Health Because I Understood Fitness

I eventually discovered they weren't the same thing.

I understood fitness and physical performance through decades of doing. What I knew remarkably little about was whole-body health — Cellular Health, Metabolic Health, Musculoskeletal Health, Cardiovascular Health, Brain & Nervous System Health, Immune & Inflammatory Health, and Gut & Digestive Health.

The question was no longer simply, “How do I get fit again?” It became: “What can someone in their 60s actually do to improve health, rebuild capability and give themselves the best possible chance of remaining healthy, strong, active and independent for as long as possible?”

Seven Months of Research Changed Everything

I immersed myself in exercise, strength, muscle, power, cardiorespiratory fitness, balance, mobility, nutrition, metabolic health, brain health, sleep, habits, measurement, healthy ageing and longevity.

I discovered an extraordinary amount of valuable information — but it was scattered across research papers, doctors, physiotherapists, exercise scientists, nutritionists, books, podcasts, videos, universities and medical organisations.

What I could not find was a single, understandable and practical place designed specifically to help ordinary people approaching or beyond 60 understand what matters, why it matters and what they can actually do about it.

And That Became The OVER 60s Quality of Life Guys

A growing knowledge and action ecosystem designed to help people understand their bodies, make better decisions, build healthier habits, measure what matters and take practical action.

Although the name says OVER 60s, the message is not only for people who have already reached 60. In many ways, the earlier you start, the better.

Because Lifestyle Debt™ compounds. But so does Lifestyle Wealth™.

I Couldn't Change What Had Happened. But I Could Decide What Happened Next.

Carlo's innocent question forced me to look backwards:

“What happened?”

The OVER 60s Quality of Life Guys is about helping all of us ask a different question while there is still time to influence the answer:

“What do I want to happen next?”

We cannot stop ageing or guarantee how long we will live. But there are many things we can influence — how we move, eat, train, think, build habits, measure progress and prepare for the future.

We Simplify. We Organise. We Make It Practical.

There is no shortage of information. The challenge is knowing what is credible, what is relevant and what to do with it. We simplify the science of healthy ageing, organise useful knowledge, make it practical and help people apply it.

Designed to Complement Healthcare — Not Replace It

The OVER 60s Quality of Life Guys is an educational and behaviour-change platform. We do not diagnose medical conditions or replace appropriately qualified healthcare professionals. Where professional assessment or care is appropriate, we encourage it.

‘I Feel Healthy.’ But What Does ‘Healthy’ Actually Mean?

You can be active, relatively lean, go to gym or play sport and still know surprisingly little about the broader picture of your health. That is why we break health down into seven Health Types and connect them to the behaviours that influence them.

Cellular · Metabolic · Musculoskeletal · Cardiovascular · Brain & Nervous System · Immune & Inflammatory · Gut & Digestive

Your Whole Body Health Score brings the picture together and helps identify what deserves your attention next.

The Past Is Written. The Future Isn't.

Better Decisions Today. More Choices Tomorrow. Greater Independence for Life.

Invest in Your Future Self™.
