The 8 Daily Habits of Healthy Longevity
Healthy ageing is shaped by what you repeatedly do. These eight habits turn the OVER 60s QoL Guys Blueprint into practical daily behaviour.
1. Mindset & Purpose
Decide to invest in your Future Self. Have a reason to stay healthy, adopt a growth and improvement mindset, and commit to building healthy habits.
2. Drink Water
Make hydration a deliberate part of your day. Needs vary with body size, climate, activity, diet, medication and health conditions.
3. Eat Real Food
Build meals around nutrient-dense foods and an overall dietary pattern that supports muscle, metabolic health and long-term wellbeing.
4. Give Your Body a Break
Avoid turning the entire waking day into one continuous eating window. Meal timing and fasting strategies should fit the individual and are not appropriate for everyone.
5. Move Every Day
Walk, move, interrupt prolonged sitting and create regular opportunities for physical activity throughout the day.
6. Train for Life
Train cardiorespiratory fitness, FUNCTIONAL strength, power, balance and mobility. Power can include appropriately progressed HIIT/SIT and jumping where suitable, but these are not interchangeable forms of training.
7. Measure What Matters
Know your baseline, watch trends and reassess. Measurements are useful when they help you make better decisions.
8. Build Healthy Habits
Start small, anchor behaviours to existing routines, reduce friction, repeat consistently, track progress and recover quickly after lapses.
The Goal Is Consistency, Not Perfection
A good habit is useful because it can be repeated. Build behaviours that fit your capability, circumstances and health context, then progress them as you improve.
Healthy habits support health; they do not replace medical diagnosis, treatment or prescribed medication.
